Softbank COO Claure to resign - report

SoftBank Group Corp.'s Chief Operating Officer Marcelo Claure (pictured) will resign from his post later in the day, CNBC reported on Thursday, citing unnamed sources briefed on his plans.

Claure has been negotiating his departure from the Japanese conglomerate "for several months," according to the insiders, who also added he "may want to run his own investment firm."

He has been Softbank's COO since 2018. Claure is the executive chairman at WeWork Companies Inc., member of the board of directors at T-Mobile US Inc. and was Sprint Corporation's president and CEO from 2014 until 2018.
