US opens mostly lower on earnings

Major stock indexes in the United States traded mostly lower at the opening bell on Friday, as more companies release their earnings reports. Yesterday, Snap revealed its revenue for the first trimester of 2022 skyrocketed 38% on an annual basis.

Earlier today, American Express announced its revenue for the same period jumped 29% year-on-year. Schlumberger saw an increase of 14% in the first quarter of 2022, while Verizon’s revenue grew a moderate 2% annually.

The Dow Jones was down 0.60% or 207 points at the opening bell, with UnitedHealth decreasing 1.56% at the same time. The S&P 500 slid 0.36% at 9:30 am ET as Align Technology declined 1.71% at the same minute. The Nasdaq 100 was flat at 9:31 am ET, only to tumble 0.47% a few minutes later, as Intuitive Surgical plunged 9.90% at 9:40 am ET.

The euro was flat against the dollar selling for 1.08291 at 9:29 am ET.
