T-Mobile has agreed to pay $350 million as part of a settlement for a large data breach that is said to have exposed the personal data of 76.6 million people, including their social security numbers, names, addresses, and phone numbers.

Additionally, the company will invest $150 million in 2022 and 2023 in "data security and related technology." The proposed settlement will need to be approved by a judge of the federal court in Kansas City, Missouri. "Final court approval of the terms of the settlement is expected as early as December 2022 but could be delayed by appeals or other proceedings," read the statement.

The business has refuted claims that it violated its obligations to protect customers' personal information and lacked proper data protection in the wake of a significant incident.
