United States National Security Council chief spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Wednesday that Washington sees no signs of Russia stopping or slowing "attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine."

"We remain concerned about escalation, and we believe rightly so," Kirby stressed, adding that the US thinks the military operations "will persist through winter months." He noted that the US and its allies are working "closely to provide additional advanced air defense systems" to Kiev.

Kirby once again reiterated that Washington has no plans to recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. "We still do not believe that such recognition would meet our needs in the context of Ukraine," Kirby explained.
