Low-cost carrier easyJet plc said on Tuesday that its revenue in the third quarter of its fiscal 2021 amounted to £212.9 million, surging 2,866% from £7.2 million achieved a year earlier at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of flights in the three-month period skyrocketed 3,381% year on year to 24,682 and the number of passengers climbed from 117,000 in the third quarter of 2020 to 3 million. Total group headline loss hit £531.2 million, worsening by 50.1% from the loss of £354 million a year earlier.

"During this quarter we have successfully managed through the continued challenges of the pandemic, using our operational responsiveness to capture demand while focusing on cost control and minimizing cash burn," CEO Johan Lundgren stated.
