US opens mostly higher after GDP report

Major stock market indexes in the United States opened mostly higher on Wednesday amid Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's newest speech about the current economic situation. Earlier, the report on the country's gross domestic product (GDP) showed a quarterly rise in personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the first trimester. Meanwhile, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) formally asked Finland and Sweden to join it.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by 0.33% or 100 points at the opening as McDonald's Corporation went up by 1.76%. The S&P 500 increased by 0.13% as General Mills Inc. gained 3.03%. The Nasdaq 100 stood flat.

The euro lost 0.21% to the dollar at 9:28 am ET to sell for $1.04959.
