Europe up at close, euro area CPI data confirmed

European stock indexes closed in the green on Thursday after July inflation data for the Eurozone was confirmed at 8.9%. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the value-added tax on natural gas will be cut from 19% to 7% until 2024. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is visiting Ukraine and is discussing the issue of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

The DAX closed 0.52% higher with Infineon Technologies advancing 2.77%. In London, the FTSE 100 increased by 0.35% as trading ended, pulled up by Harbour Energy's 2.81% jump. The CAC 40 rose by 0.45% with its best performer STMicroelectronics up 2.94% at the close.

The euro was 0.48% lower against the dollar, selling for 1.01322 at 5:32 pm CET, while the pound was down 0.40%, buying $1.19997 concurrently.
