European stock exchanges closed the trading session on Thursday in the green, erasing recorded losses at the opening bell, as investors keep a close eye on midterm elections in the United States. The positive sentiment was seemingly driven by the slight recovery of the Eurozone's retail trade in comparison to the last month's figure, with Austria recording the strongest growth of retail sales in the euro area. Frankfurt's DAX rallied 1.15% or 155 points, with Infineon Technologies AG skyrocketing by 7.07%. The CAC 40 closed the trading session with a 0.37% gain, as STMicroelectronics NV jumped by 4.39%. London's FTSE rose by 0.84% as Frasers Group Plc pulled the index up by 4.46%. The euro traded 0.58% higher against the dollar, to change hands to $1.00782 at 5:29 pm CET. The pound sterling rose 0.47% versus the American currency, selling at $1.15643 a minute later.
