The United States stock indexes opened higher on Thursday as investors continued to gauge global economic prospects and whether a recession could ensue, awaiting the Federal Reserve's next cues on the future trajectory of its monetary policy.

On the data front, initial jobless claims in the country rose by 4,000 to 230,000, the Department of Labor shared.

The Dow Jones grew 0.32% or 107 points at the opening bell, as Boeing rose 2.06% at 9:31 am ET. The S&P 500 increased 0.40% at 9:30 am ET, with Las Vegas Sands jumping 4.20% a minute later. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.39% at the open, as NetEase pulled the index up by 6.40% at 9:31 am ET.

The euro traded 0.16% higher against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, selling for 1.05268.
