Wall Street ends volatile session higher after FOMC minutes

Stock exchanges on Wall Street struggled for direction on Wednesday, wrapping up the trading session with major indexes recording modest gains, as investors dissected cues from the Federal Reserve's meeting minutes.

On the political front, the lower chamber of the United States Congress entered its second day of the gridlock as legislators were unable to elect the next House speaker, with GOP leader, Kevin McCarthy failing to win the majority after six ballots.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average registered a 133-point gain and rose 0.40%, as Boeing Company jumped 4.22%. The Nasdaq 100 increased 0.48%, with JD.com surging 14.68%. The S&P 500 rose 0.75%, as Bath & Body Works LLC pulled the index up, skyrocketing 10.52%.

The euro stood flat against the American currency, to change hands to $1.06035 at 4:04 pm ET.
