New York stock exchanges kicked off the trading session on Monday registering losses as investors awaited for the release of quarterly financial reports by major American tech giants in the coming days. The Federal Reserve's meeting will also grab traders' attention this week, with potentially 25 basis point increase being on the table as policymakers look to bring inflation down to its target.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.31%, as the Walt Disney Company dropped 1.25%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased 0.98%, with Pinduoduo Inc. nosediving 7.24%.The S&P 500 declined 0.60%, with Lumen Technologies Inc. going down by 2.36%.

The euro rose 0.19% against the dollar, to sell at $1.08861 at 9:27 am ET.
