The United States government is considering lifting intellectual property protection on domestically-made COVID-19 vaccines, therefore allowing all countries worldwide to replicate them, CNBC reported on Friday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supported the possibility by writing to the White House, while multiple countries across the globe turned to the World Trade Organization, insisting that the intellectual property is made available.

Three coronavirus vaccines are currently approved in the US, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, Moderna's jab and the shot produced by Johnson & Johnson.
