US lifts DPA ratings on vaccines to boost production

White House COVID-19 advisor Jeff Zients stated during a briefing on Thursday that the United States will be lifting Defense Production Act (DPA) ratings for AstraZeneca, Novavax and Sanofi coronavirus vaccines, allowing them better access to American producers of vaccine supplies. The move is aimed at helping boost jab production around the world.

Zients also shared that the 1 million Johnson & Johnson doses, promised by US President Joe Biden to his South Korean counterpart have arrived in California and are being loaded on a plane to be taken to the Republic of Korea this evening. The US continues its commitments to regularly deliver vaccines around the globe.

Meanwhile, Rochelle Walensky, the Director of the Centers for Disease Control noted that there's been a 30% decrease in cases in the country, compared to last week's average and a 94% drop from the highest recorded numbers of cases in the peak of the pandemic crisis.
