The Drugs Controller General of India said on Monday that Johnson & Johnson canceled its request for emergency approval of its COVID-19 vaccine.

The decision, which was announced without any other details, comes as India is trying to solve indemnity issues with vaccine manufacturers. "This team is in continuous dialogue with Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson to discuss and address various issues including the issue of indemnity," Junior Health Minister Bharati Pravin Pawar previously commented.

India has previously provided permission for the emergency use of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine in June.
