J&J claims booster raises antibody levels ninefold

Johnson & Johnson claimed in a statement published on Wednesday that its COVID-19 vaccine booster dose elevates antibody levels ninefold in comparison to the initial inoculation.

The company backed the claim with data obtained in a Phase-2 study conducted in the United States and Europe. The research included 2,000 people who were given the second dose of the single-shot jab between six and eight months after the vaccination.

"We have established that a single shot of our COVID-19 vaccine generates strong and robust immune responses that are durable and persistent through eight months. With these new data, we also see that a booster dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine further increases antibody responses among study participants who had previously received our vaccine," Mathai Mammen, global head of the company's Research & Development branch, said.

The company's shares gained over 1% in the premarket after the announcement.
