United Airlines warns of Q3 revenue & capacity hit

United Airlines warned on Thursday that consumers' reluctance to travel amid a spike in COVID-19 cases caused by the delta variant will have a negative impact on both revenue and capacity in the third quarter.

The airline predicts a 33% drop in revenue compared to the same period last year and a decline in capacity of at least 28%. An adjusted pre-tax loss is expected in the third quarter, possibly stretching into the fourth quarter if the lull in demand continues.
