Supply issues due to UK's growing economy - PM

Sunday, 03. October 2021 12:03

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson claimed on Sunday that the supply chain issues faced by the United Kingdom can be attributed to "the stresses and strains" faced by the "fastest-growing economy in the G7." The UK is experiencing problems with the supply of fuel, as well as a range of goods, due to a shortage of truck drivers, the COVID-19 crisis and Brexit-related disruptions.

Johnson conceded the issues could persist until Christmas but insisted the UK must transition away from an economy model that "relied on low wages and low skills and chronic low productivity." He did not rule out another tax increase to deal with the consequences of the pandemic but added that "if I can possibly avoid it, I do not want to raise taxes again."
