Members of the United Kingdom's Parliament are pushing to criminalize misogyny, despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson's opposition, according to The Guardian.

The effort, led by lawmaker Helen Newlove, has garnered support from Conservative peers who agree that sex and gender identity discrimination should be considered a hate crime and placed alongside discrimination on the basis of someone's religious belief.

"Because at the end of the day, we need to fully understand how women feel," The Guardian quoted Newlove as saying in criticism of Johnson's stance on the issue.
