Merck's COVID drug to be rolled out this month in UK

Dr. Susan Hopkins, chief medical adviser at the United Kingdom's Health Security Agency said on Sunday that COVID-19 drug molnupiravir will be rolled out through a trial at the end of the month and in early December. The UK was the first country in the world to authorize the treatment made by Merck & Co. and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics.

Hopkins stated the trial will help health experts study the effect of the pill on the vaccinated population, as it has currently only been tested on the unvaccinated. She added that Pfizer Inc.'s drug paxlovid "is probably not going to be licensed until the new year some time," although the UK has already ordered 250,000 doses.
