Meanwhile, Fed senior official James Bullard voiced his support for the central bank's move to a restrictive monetary stance in an attempt to decrease high inflation.

The Dow Jones was flat, the Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.23% and the S&P 500 increased by 0.07% at 8:13 am ET. The euro was flat compared to the dollar to go for 1.08262 at the same time.
