Top House Democrats urged the United States Treasury Department to conduct a review on whether airlines used coronavirus-related relief funds received from the government to pay for staff buyouts.

Representatives Carolyn Maloney and James Clyburn yesterday sent a letter to the department's watchdog according to a report published by CNBC on Friday, requesting a thorough investigation on how airlines used COVID-19 aid during the pandemic.

The representatives are looking to get the answer from the Treasury's watchdog by September 22.
