United Airlines Q3 revenue surges 65% to $12.9B

United Airlines Holdings Inc. announced on Tuesday that its total operating revenue in the third quarter of fiscal 2022 came in at $12.9 billion, beating market projections. Total operating revenue jumped by 13.2% compared to the corresponding quarter in 2019 and surged by 65% year over year.

The company's net income reached $942 million in the third quarter of 2022, advancing from the previously recorded figure of $473 million in the same trimester a year earlier. The diluted earnings per share came in at $2.86.

"Despite growing concerns about an economic slowdown, the ongoing COVID recovery trends at United continue to prevail and we remain optimistic that we’ll continue to deliver strong financial results in the fourth quarter, 2023, and beyond," United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby commented.

The company's shares increased by 7.38% in after-hours trading following the release of the earnings report.
