Manchester United plc stock listed in the United States jumped over 9% in premarket trade on Friday, extending this week's gains after media reports claimed that the Red Devils' leadership is looking at several options to attract investment, including a full sale of the club. Yesterday, the British newspaper Daily Star, without citing sources, reported that Apple Inc. is interested in a potential £5.8 billion acquisition.

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia's sports minister told UK media that Riyadh would support Saudi investors in potential bids to take over Manchester United and Liverpool after the Middle Eastern country's Public Investment Fund bought Newcastle United last year.

Manchester United shares on the New York Stock Exchange soared 9.57% at 8:15 am ET.
