The Islamic State announced on Wednesday the death of its leader Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qurashi has died. According to a spokesperson, he was killed "in combat," although no details have been provided.

Al-Qurashi became the leader of the terrorist group in March 2022 after the death of Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurashi. He will be succeeded by Abu al-Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi, the spokesperson revealed.
