FAA slows Florida flight traffic over computer issue

Monday, 02. January 2023 22:16

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Monday that it had reduced the number of flights over Florida while it works to fix an issue with a computer system used for air traffic control. The system, called the En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM), experienced problems that impacted air traffic control. The FAA did not provide further details on the issue.

American Airlines confirmed that the delay is partly impacting its operations in the area, while Tampa International Airport also said that some flights into the air might be affected. The problem comes after a major winter storm caused disruptions to air travel over the Christmas holiday period, crippling operations of budget carrier Southwest Airlines.
