Fears of war prompt flight cancelations in Ukraine

The Ukrainian government announced an investment of $592 million to ensure that airlines continue to fly in and out of the country amid fears of the possible escalation of conflict at the Russian border.

The funds should "stabilize the situation on the market of passenger air transportation and will guarantee the return to Ukraine of our citizens who are currently abroad," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Sunday.

The decision was brought after Dutch carrier KLM previously canceled flights to Ukraine, while Lufthansa also considered pushing the same move.
