DAX, CAC turn red ahead of update on EU consumer confidence

The DAX and the CAC 40 turned to losses on Wednesday after starting the day's session higher ahead of the newest preliminary report on consumer confidence in the European Union. Meanwhile, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak warned the oil and gas market will "collapse" without the Eurasian country's energy exports should the West impose a ban on them. Amid the ongoing crises, the prices of oil and precious metals experienced rises.

The DAX declined by 0.38% at 11:43 am CET. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.31% at 11:29 am CET. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 advanced by 0.33% at 11:43 am CET.

The euro lost 0.26% to the dollar at 11:44 am CET to sell for $1.10022. A minute later, the pound sterling fell by 0.30% to the greenback to go for $1.32216.
