Europe closes mostly higher as Jackson Hole starts | ![]() |

European stock markets closed mostly higher on Thursday after a release of the European Central Bank’s minutes from the July meeting and following the beginning of the annual Jackson Hole Symposium. Markets are also awaiting Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's speech, which is to take place tomorrow. Meanwhile, Germany noted an increase in its gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of the year, while also stating its companies' gas consumption declined in July this year on a yearly basis. The DAX increased by 0.34% at 5:30 pm CET with Siemens Healthineers going up by 2.16%. London's FTSE 100 rose by 0.15% at the same time as CRH advanced 3.37%. In Paris, the CAC 40 decreased by 0.06% at the close, while Alstom went down by 1.78%. The euro traded flat against the dollar at 5:34 pm CET, while the pound went up by 0.10% compared to the greenback, buying 1.18073 at the same time. |
