Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday Moscow is planning to call a United Nations Security Council meeting to discuss the damage recently caused to the Nord Stream pipelines.

"Russia intends to convene an official meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with provocations regarding the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines," Zakharova stated in a Telegram post.

Earlier this week, Nord Stream AG, the operator of the pipelines, said that leaks "occurred on the same day simultaneously on three strings of the offshore gas pipelines" and officials from the European Union and Russia stated the leaks were likely a result of a "deliberate act" and sabotage.
