Asia trades higher as Trump weighs Dec 15 tariffs

Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region traded with gains on Thursday as investors kept an eye on the latest developments in trade relations between the world's top two economies.

According to earlier media reports, President Donald Trump is apparently likely to hold a meeting to make a final decision regarding the 15% tariff increase scheduled for December 15.

The Nikkei 225 closed 0.14% higher, while the South Korean Kospi Composite ended the session jumping 1.46%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 also closed the trading day with gains, rising 0.68%.

In China, stocks were mixed as the Shenzhen Composite traded flat at 7:25 am CET, the Hang Seng added 1.39% and the Shanghai Composite declined 0.22% at the same time.

The dollar traded flat against the Japanese yen, going for 108,5960 at 7:27 am CET.
