Palladium nears $2,000 per ounce

The price of palladium jumped almost 2% on Friday, hitting a fresh all-time high after 15 days of gains.

Palladium is a precious metal mostly used for the manufacturing of catalytic converters for cars. On Thursday around 04:00 am ET it surpassed the highest-ever price of gold, which traded for $1,912.25 on September 6, 2011.

Palladium surged 1.86% to $1,978.99 per ounce on Friday at 07:45 am ET, meanwhile, gold traded 4.5% higher going for $1,471.68 per ounce.
