Europe opens higher after corporate earnings

Stock markets in Europe opened higher on Tuesday after BHP Billiton and HSBC released their earnings reports, with the British banking conglomerate posting worse than expected results. Investors are also expecting German economy outlook data due later in the day.

London's FTSE 100 was flat at the start of the session, rising only 0.02%. Glencore Plc added 0.66%.

The German DAX was 0.21% higher after the opening bell. Media company ProSiebenSat.1 led the gains with 2.26%.

French CAC 40 gained 0.13% at the open, as Credit Agricole rose 1.54%.

The euro lost 0.42% against the dollar to sell for 1.2354 at 9:07 am CET while it decreased 0.03% against the pound to go for 0.8858 at 9:08 am CET.
