Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda confirmed on Wednesday the country's economy is "sharply" recovering as the central bank's response to the coronavirus crisis has "produced results."

However, Kuroda revealed that economic recovery will be "moderate" in the future, adding that the bank is ready to ease further policy measures, including cutting interest rates.

Earlier in the day, the Bank of Japan left its short-term key interest rate unchanged at -0.1%, in line with expectations.
