Dollar drops to 4-month low against yen

The United States dollar fell to four-month lows against the yen on Friday as coronavirus pandemic fears influenced sentiment, with new lockdowns seeming more certain as a result of cases rising in a number of countries most impacted by the virus.

The last time the dollar was this low compared to the safe-haven Japanese currency was in the midst of the coronavirus lockdowns in March which resulted in a significant number of job losses globally. The dollar is now down 1.02% against the yen for the week and lost 2.51% comapred the the Japanese currency since the beginning of 2020.

The greenback fell 0.84% to 105.9645 against the yen at 9:42 am ET.
