BoJ: Japan economy picks up, situation still severe

Montag, 29. März 2021 03:06

Bank of Japan released on Monday its monetary policy meeting summary, saying that the country's economy has "picked up as a trend," but still remained in a severe state due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Japanese central bank was optimistic noting an improving economic outlook, and is expecting a gradual recovery. However, it stressed uncertainties related to the spreading of newly detected coronavirus strains remain high as well as concerns related to the surge of United States Treasury bond yields.

While inflation remains weak, the bank said it would continue using existing policy responses in order to negate the impact of the COVID-19.
