Asia-Pacific mixed on pandemic recovery

Equities in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Monday as investors looked at how the latest pandemic news would shape the markets. Japan, China, and South Korea are all stepping up their vaccination programs in an effort to quicken recovery. Meanwhile, the Bank of Korea announced it was going to test a central bank digital currency in order to determine whether they should issue one.

The Nikkei 225 increased 0.26% at 7:13 am CET, while the Kospi Composite declined 0.33% a minute later. The S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.21% at 7:14 am CET. The dollar was 0.14% down against the yen trading for ¥108.8055 at 7:15 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shenzen Composite rose by 0.24% at 7:15 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite traded 0.23% higher concurrently. Over in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng was 0.33% down at 7:17 am CET.
