Asia trades higher ahead of China trade balance

Stock markets in Asia traded with gains on Tuesday as investors awaited official figures on China's trade balance for the first half of the year. The earnings season will be getting underway as well, with second-quarter reports for PepsiCoInc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. expected later in the day.

The Nikkei 225 grew by 0.74% at 4:38 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 was up by 0.34% at the same time, while Hang Seng jumped by 1.69% at 4:39 am CET. The Kospi Composite added 0.69% at 4:19 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.33% at 4:38 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite rose by 0.12% at 4:40 am CET.

The dollar was flat compared to the yen at 4:41 am CET and sold for 110.3595.
