French police detains 19 people at protests - minister

The French police have detained 19 people during protests over the announced stricter COVID-19 containment measures, Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin (pictured) wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Out of the 19 people in custody, 10 were arrested in Paris, the minister explained.

According to previous reports by BFM TV, three police officers were injured during the unrest, while more than 204,000 people gathered to demonstrate against the changes in the government's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
