Europe closes mostly up as BoE maintains rates

Major European stock markets closed mostly higher on Thursday following the Bank of England's decision to maintain its key interest rates at the latest policy meeting.

Commenting on the state of inflation across the Eurozone, the European Central Bank shared estimates that consumer prices are going to continue rising through autumn before starting to decline next year.

The DAX rose 0.88% or 137 points at the closing bell. The CAC 40 gained 0.98%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 declined by 0.07%. The euro climbed 0.42% against the dollar to sell for 1.17375 at 5:45 pm CET, while the pound increased by 0.88% to $1.37393.
