Germany's virus incidence rate highest since start of outbreak

Germany's Robert Koch Institute revealed that the country's seven-day COVID-19 incident rate was 446.7 per 100,000 citizens, marking another record high.

In the last 24 hours, there were 44,401 new coronavirus cases, and 104 deaths attributed to the virus.

Earlier during the day, the first infection with the virus' Omicron variant has been detected in the country.
