US turns to gains, Dow jumps by over 400 points

Major stock markets in the United States turned to gains on Thursday after starting the day in the mixed territory as the new strain of COVID-19, Omicron, continues to impact trading. Earlier in the day, the country reported a decrease in initial jobless claims and job cuts. Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated he expects the upper house to reach an agreement on the government funding, just like Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 1.31% or 444 points at 10:01 am ET. At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.61% it 97 points. A minute later, the S&P 500 gained 1.01%.

The euro advanced by 0.24% to sell for $1.13376 at 10:03 am ET.
