Europe ends lower as Ukraine tensions persist

European markets closed deep in the red on Friday as investors continued to focus on the Ukraine crisis. The White House continued to warn Russia could attack its neighbor at any time and threaten Moscow with sanctions. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remained confident there will be no war in the country.

The FTSE 100 dropped 1.17%. The worst performer was Ocado Grou, down 7.56%.

The DAX slid 1.32%. Henkel led the losses as its shares plummeted 11.33%.

The CAC 40 fell 0.82% with Alstom plunging 8.20%.

The euro added 0.20% against the dollar to sell for 1.11650 at 5:31 pm CET and the pound gained 0.30% compared to the greenback to go for 1.34206 at 5:32 pm CET.
