US markets cut losses, pulled up by Apple, Visa

Stock exchanges in the United States overcame a difficult stretch that began shortly after the markets opened on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average index trading 0.35% or 122 points in the green at 11:46 am ET and the Nasdaq 100 jumping 1.62% and the S&P 500 rising by 0.94% at the same time.

Apple and Visa were among the leading stocks on all three indexes after issuing their latest respective quarterly earnings reports yesterday. Apple gained 5.35% at 11:49 am ET and Visa surged 7.82% at 11:34 am ET.

The euro advanced 0.14% against the US dollar, going for 1.11584 at 11:51 am ET.
