Europe opens lower ahead of earnings week

Major European stock markets opened lower on Monday as investors prepared for the resume of corporate earnings season that will accelerate over the week. The weekend was marked by the rise of crude prices as well as cryptocurrencies.

The DAX lost 0.31% at the opening bell, with Covestro AG plummeting 3.47%. The FTSE 100 slipped 0.13%. The CAC 40 declined 0.70%. The euro fell 0.16% against the dollar to sell for 1.15816 at 9:12 am CET, while the pound decreased 0.11% to 1.37361.
