US opens lower amid economic worries

Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Monday amid concerns about the current state of the country's economy. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg projected the issues with supply chains will continue into 2022. Meanwhile, it was reported Senator from West Virginia Joe Manchin is seeking new changes to President Joe Biden's proposed spending package. Additionally, the country unveiled its industrial production saw a monthly decline of 1.3% in September.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 0.41% or 146 points lower at the opening as The Walt Disney Company lost 2.50%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.34%, with Trip.com Group Limited slumping by 3.64%. The S&P 500 went down by 0.40% as Medtronic PLC plunged by 6.26%.

The euro gained 0.08% against the dollar to sell for $1.16086 at 9:27 am ET.
