Asian markets higher, with Ukraine still in focus

Major stock markets in Asia-Pacific continued trading higher deep into the session on Monday, as investors keep their eye on the crisis in Ukraine. Japan shared that it is considering imposing a new batch of sanctions against Russia. Additionally, the European Union is planning to meet this Wednesday to discuss further sanctions against Russia as well.

At 7:11 am CET Japan's Nikkei 225 added 0.09%, while the Australian S&P 200 increased by 0.48% at the same time. The dollar was flat against the yen at 7:14 am CET, selling for 122.57200.

At 7:16 am CET, Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.43%, while South Korea's Kospi Composite gained 0.35% at the same time. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite and the Shenzhen Composite did not trade today due to the Ching Ming Festival, a public holiday.
