Asian markets mixed on coronavirus concerns

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded mixed on Wednesday as worries about spiking coronavirus numbers seem to be weighing in on market sentiment. The optimism about vaccines was also shaken when Johnson & Johnson announced it intends to delay the rollout of its jab after the shot was linked with cases of rare blood clots.

On the Chinese mainland, the Shenzhen Composite traded 1.0% higher at 04:18 am CET, as the Shanghai Composite added 0.22%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up by 1.14% at 4:19 am CET, as the Australian S&P/ASX 200 increased by 0.63%.

At 04:21 am CET, South Korea's Kospi Composite went 0.02% down and Japan's Nikkei 225 decreased 0.34%. A minute later, the dollar fell 0.18% against the yen, going for ¥108.8580.
