Asia trades mixed after upbeat China data

Asian stock markets traded mixed on Friday as data reports from China indicated its economy continued to recover. The GDP for the first three months grew 18.3% year-on-year, while industrial production was up by 24.1%, and retail sales increased by 33.9% in the first quarter.

The Nikkei 225 added 0.20% at 4:35 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.30% at the same time, while Hang Seng fell by 0.11%. The Kospi Composite lost 0.24% at 4:16 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite improved by 0.23% at 4:35 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite was down by 0.39% at 4:37 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.11% higher compared to the yen and sold for 108.8715 at 4:38 am CET.
