GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, June 13, 2003: Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that during the company's fiscal year 2003 (FY03), ending 31st May 2003, the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region has performed in line with expectations. Highlights of Oracle's success in FY03 include: * In the first half of FY03, Oracle registered a 69% growth in its Oracle9i Application Server EMEA customer base * European Informix customers are migrating to the Oracle9i Database in preference to IBM DB2 by six to one * Oracle launched the Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition for mid-sized enterprises * Oracle announced its 300th FastForward implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite in the region * Oracle announced joint initiatives with strategic partners including Fujitsu Siemens, Nokia, Alcatel and Ericsson * Demand from customers in the Public Services and Travel & Transportation continued to increase for the Oracle E-Business Suite * Membership of the Oracle PartnerNetwork grew 46 per cent, from 4,800 members to 7,000 2002-2003 was a challenging year for the EMEA enterprise software market. However in a shrinking market, Oracle EMEA maintained its revenue figures, and succeeded in growing its customer base across all product groups. Oracle's focus on helping its customers do more while spending less, automate business processes, achieve rapid return on investment and maximise existing infrastructure while ensuring the highest levels of security and reliability, enabled the company to maintain flat revenues in a climate of reduced business confidence and IT spending. Sergio Giacoletto, Executive Vice President, Oracle EMEA, said: "We have recorded a solid financial performance in EMEA in our 2003 fiscal year. Throughout the period, we have demonstrated our commitment to grow our market share through the release of new products including the Oracle E-Business Suite Special Edition and Oracle9i Collaboration Suite. We have also seen increasing demand for our technology and business applications in the European Union accession countries, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Middle East and Africa. We are working with both public and private sector organisations in these countries and helping them become more competitive through the use of information technology. "The current economic and geo-political climate has had an effect on all enterprise software vendors, however we are pleased with our performance," he concluded.
