US shares open lower, Dow loses 300 points

Major United States stock indexes opened lower on Tuesday, continuing the sell-off that started the previous day. The investors will be awaiting the JOLTS job openings report, followed by a speech by the New York Federal Reserve Bank President John Williams.

The Dow Jones dropped 0.85% or 300 points at the market open, led by Intel Corp. which declined by 1.16%. The S&P 500 plunged 1.25%, as Pioneer Natural Resources Co. plummeted 5.87%. The Nasdaq 100 lost 1.95%, with Tesla Inc. 3.33% in the red.

The euro traded 0.21% higher compared to the dollar, selling for 1.21547 at 9:35 am ET.
